About me

All about me!

I’m sure you’re curious just who is this mysterious KnitChick. Well you’ve come to the right place!

First off, the reason for the name. I’ve been going by KnitChick for a number of years now, and for good reason. I love to knit! I always have multiple projects on the needles, and very rarely do I go anywhere without some knitting on me. I have been knitting since early 2004, mostly self-taught from books. I am on Ravelry, under KnitChick1979.

As far as work goes, I am a cataloger! I am in my final semester at Dominican University, and will be finishing up my Master’s in Library Science later this year. I work part-time as a Cataloging Associate at the Naperville Public Library, where I get to do what I love, and work with wonderful people. I’ve had the opportunity to give presentations to other librarians and share my passion.

When I’m not in school, at work, or knitting, I am definitely not bored! I have far too many activities to keep me busy. I love to cosplay, craft, read, spend time with my wonderful fiance, and more.

I am a staffer for Anime Central, an annual convention held in Rosemont, IL, every May to celebrate Japanese animation & culture. I work on the Special Needs/ADA Compliance department, helping make sure that our differently-abled attendees have no barriers to enjoying the con. I’m also a moderator on the forums.

I’m also a member of Ghostbusters: Chicago Division, which is really a dream come true for me. Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to be a Ghostbuster. I even spent time in high school looking for programs in parapsychology. Thanks to my wonderful fiance getting me an unfinished proton pack for my birthday last year, I’m finally a real Ghostbuster! Plus, I’m now part of our Ecto Cooler infomercial, which has gone viral! I’m amazed at how popular it’s been. Of course, I’m sure a lot of people miss Ecto Cooler, like me, and that’s fueling the popularity. Either way, it’s been fun and I look forward to more fun events with my fellow Ghostbusters.

So that’s a little slice of my life. Check out my social media profiles or the rest of my website if you want to get to know me even better.
